barcode scanner

My mom now has this barcode scanner that she uses to scan everything we purchase. She sends the info to one of those survey companies- the name of the company escapes me, but it's one of those companies that will anonymously analyze your purchases and the purchases of hundreds of other people, and then decide which products are "best selling" and which ones aren't. I guess they can sell all those statistics to other companies for a lot of money. It's kinda nice to get our opinions in the pot.
