drug treatment

Drug treatment is essential for those who need it. Drug abuse is a huge drain on society and treatment should definitely be provided for drug addicts. But I get so annoyed by celebrities who seek “drug treatment” that is really a vacation to a posh resort. They don’t learn anything in those facilities, except maybe how to drink a margarita while getting a tan.

  • I think that a lot of those rehab facilities only care about the name recognition that celebrities that go there for treatment give them. I toured Gatehouse Academy's treatment facility and I noticed a lot of wealthy people in treatment that went there because they wanted to take treatment seriously. I think that if more centers had this same kind of philosophy they would be more successful.

  • April-
Agreed. It's like they are trying to create this "image" for the public (see? I may have gotten a DUI and I may be an alcoholic but I'm getting treated!), but they don't REALLY want to deal with the issues. Admittedly, dealing with the issues is scary, but it is definitely worthwhile. But it is a leap of faith, to admit you need help and deal with the issues.

I've never heard of Gatehouse Academy but it sounds like a good facility. Any facility that tells you upfront that treatment is not easy and takes a lot of work- that's good.
