blood diamonds?
I heard on the news tonight that Naomi Campbell had to face a trial regarding whether or not the "certified diamonds" she received were blood diamonds financing the war in West Africa. It's kinda sickening, if you ask me. Maybe it's just because I've been to Africa and lived there and seen what the war did to the people. Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of diamonds to begin with. How can she possibly live with herself now?

I read your post on Naomi Cambell receiving blood diamonds and agree that it is sickening to think of the human cost for a few precious stones. Furthermore, it would be nice if Cambell had placed a little more thought into the origins of her jewelry and so considered the hidden suffering of others.
Because the story has generated a lot of opinionated conversation about Cambell's behavior, I'd like to recommend a video which does a good job at laying out its facts: http://www.newsy.com/videos/naomi-campbell-testifies-in-blood-diamond-trial/.
The video is by Newsy.com, which compiles reports of breaking news stories and assimilates them into brief videos with links to the original sources. Check out the site, and if you like Newsy's style, then I hope you'll consider embedding its videos.
Bests,
Matt
