gimme a break...
At the school where my mom teaches, they recently installed a new security filter on their computers. It's supposed to prevent the high school kids from visiting or viewing inappropriate web pages. (It's important to interject here that they consider 99% of the internet to be inappropriate. Blogging and social networking sites are inappropriate, as well as news sites like cnn.com, and even some email sites like gmail.com.)
The administration seems to have a great deal of confidence in this new filter. I find their confidence quite laughable. It was a high school sophomore who showed me how to hack through their last filter. I'm betting it will only be a month or two before the students ar able to hack through the new filter. What can I say? Kids are smart!

Hi Tidy, It's been awhile. Filters are a bit of a joke.

Hi Gina, good to see you. Yes, filters are really a waste of money, especially if you're trying to prevent someone who is younger, smarter, or generally more tech-savvy than you from visiting certain sites.
