a jacket with gps: too much?
Bladerunner has designed a jacket with both adult and child models that includes a GPS chip. While I can understand, in a way, why a parent might want such a jacket – if their child has GPS, then the parent can literally know where the child is all the time. However, for this very same reason, I am concerned. Of course, there is always the concern of “big brother” – at what point have we gone so far that we have lost every bit of privacy? However, I am also concerned because I am afraid that items like this are encouraging parents to quit parenting. Why does a parent need to worry about trusting their child or asking them where they are going and who they will be with, if the kid has GPS and the parent can just check their GPS to find out where the kid is?
