watches

I am SO not a fan of luxury watches. I basically always wear a watch, but I prefer a tough, rugged sports watch. I also want a watch that displays the date. It has to be waterproof, and it has to have an “indiglo” light, so that I can see the time in the dark. Plus of course it has to be comfortable. I’m picky!

insurance

Insurance is so useful. Anytime you’re hit with a major expense, it’s so nice when an insurance company picks up the tab. When I was in my car accident, my health insurance rescued us from a very pricy tab. Right now we are negotiating a new roof with our home insurance company – our roof was damaged in that storm a few weeks ago. Life insurance is especially useful when you need to pay for a funeral even though you’re dealing with your grief – you can get term life insurance quotes here.

swimsuit

It’s so much more difficult nowadays to buy a good swimsuit. I don’t want to buy one that is too revealing, plus I don’t have a body that looks good in a skimpy swimsuit.

When I was a kid, my mom would wear suits with skirts, and my sister and I teased her mercilessly for that. But a couple of years ago, when I was (again) searching for a suit, I found this fantastic suit in a catalog that had a skirt. Talk about eating my words! I never imagined that I would love a suit with a skirt but- I do!

tornado

Did you hear about the tornado that swept through Weld County in Colorado?

My dad was raised in Eaton, a small town in Weld County.

My mom went to college in Greeley, a not-so-small town in Weld County.

My dad's brother still lives in Greeley.

Thankfully no one in my family was hurt, although there is at least one confirmed fatality and many other injuries. It's tragic to see the massive damage that has occurred there.

where I've been hiding

Okay, so I was a little reluctant to "reveal" this before I had - well - SOMETHING on this site. But now that I've received this blitz of comments, it seems appropriate to unveil it. Click here to visit my new blog, created on my own domain with the assistance of Wordpress.

P.S. April, what is your blog's URL?

allergy purifiers

One of my friends has five cats and gets allergy shots so that she can tolerate living with five cats. The cats are adorable and absolutely sweet, so they are easy to love. In addition to allergy shots, she uses sprays that reduce dander on the cats and on the furniture and air purifiers like the Ladybug steam cleaners to get the dander out of the air.

drug rehab

I have a friend who told me this week that he is checking into rehab. I’m not sure if it is drug rehab or something other kind of rehab, but I don’t suppose it matters much – as long as you are at a quality rehab center, if you need rehab, then that’s about all the matters. Hopefully they’ll put a smile on his face again.

music downloads

It’s been a long time since I’ve even attempted to get free music downloads. Back in college, I used Limewire to get free music, but as I’ve grown older and learned more about computers (and hackers), I’ve become much more skeptical about any kind of free downloads. There’s so many viruses out there and so many people trying to gain access to my computer. In fact, I have one friend who uses Limewire often, and who now has a persistent virus on her machine. Tonight I discovered mp3 Rocket. After researching mp3 Rocket a bit, I felt okay about downloading it, and after using mp3 Rocket, I LOVE IT. It’s virus free, and it’s a fantastic program!

blinds

When I first moved into my old apartment, we had to do quite a bit of remodeling-type work. We had to buy blinds for the windows (and there were many windows!), a showerhead for the tub, latches for the doors, and lots of other miscellaneous little things. It was definitely worth it – the blinds helped to create some privacy, the showerhead kept me clean, and everything else made my life much more convenient.

market research

This morning I got an email about a market research opportunity. I like market research – I like knowing that my opinion is out there and influencing my economy. Plus, the best market research companies will give you money for completing surveys, which is a fantastic little second income. My favorite market research has got to be the surveys and reviews where I get free products. Usually when you are given cash for your opinion, you just get a couple of dollars (although one time I got a $15 Amazon.com gift code!).

cheap flights

I have traveled enough that I know how hard it is to find cheap flights. When I went to Africa, I was really shocked by the price of flights in and out of that continent. Plus lately, the airlines have announced many rate hikes, due to the high price of fuel. They charge for everything imaginable, from your seat to your snacks plus of course, the actual flight.
