amazon books

This morning, I had to read a bunch of snake books and Amazon books to the class I was teaching. That's amazon books as in, books about the amazon river! It seems like such a silly distinction, but it's an important one to make nowadays! The kids (especially the boys) were fascinated by the snakes, in a way that all boys are fascinated by snakes. I can't say that I was as impressed!

home security

I read the other day that you can get a discount on your home insurance if you have a home security system. It makes so much sense to me, in so many ways.

For example... in the home I am living in right now, I feel pretty safe. It's in a good part of town and I don't worry about crime. But my old apartment was in a "hood". It was such a crummy apartment that I could break into without much work- handy when you lock yourself out, but otherwise not a good thing!

Even just having a home security logo on your house can deter crime. Plus if it gives you peace of mind, then it's "worth its weight in gold"!
