cable ties

Has anyone else discovered the wonder of using cable ties to organize the space behind a computer desk? They are so useful for organizing all the cords that come with a computer nowadays. Of course computers have lots of cords, and if you're anything like me, you probably have OTHER cords that need organized too- like the TV/VCR/DVD player, a fan, a clock- the list goes on and on!

hvac

Awhile back, our furnace quit working. It was pretty cold outside, so we called our hvac furnace repair people and, thankfully, he came over within minutes, even though it was a Sunday. Once he got here, he looked around and discovered that our cold air intake valve was frozen shut. Then he checked the HAVC filter, flipped a switch and voila, problem solved! He got $125 for ten minutes' work- it makes me think that I should go into that line of business!

weight loss

I really need to lose weight. Part of it is that I want to look nice- yes, I admit it, even though it's not the right reason to be on a diet. But I am in the "neighborhood" where I need to lose weight before it becomes a health issue. I wish their was a quick weight loss plan- I have sooooo little self discipline and struggle so much to lose weight. Alas!

diet and disease

I wonder how many of our diseases are directly related to our diets. I mean, doctors already have a "hygiene hypothesis", that lots of diseases are caused by how clean our surroundings are (with the antibacterial this and that). It only makes sense that there are sickness diets, eczema diets and stuff that causes those sicknesses.

skin cream

I'm amazed by the things women do to be "pretty". Rubbing all kinds of lotions and potions and creams and gels on their skin, everything from strivectin sd to hemorrhoid cream. I mean, I'm all for the stuff that is actually related to health, like treating acne or dermatitis. But I don't understand why people get all crazy about looking a certain way.

soreness

Sometimes it seems like working out makes me feel OLDER, not younger. My muscles and joints get so sore and creaky. Maybe I need to start taking joint supplements or something! Oh well- on the upside, it really is a good soreness and I really do feel better. Which reminds me- I need to get back to the gym tomorrow!

acne

How sad is it that now, at the age of 26, I still have to deal with acne? I had a really bad breakout at the end of December. I have to use a variety of acne products- everything from benzoyl peroxide to salacylic acid to tea tree oil. Sometimes the best acne "product" is swimming- taking a dip in a chlorinated pool. It actually dries out your skin and does a beautiful job of clearing your skin.

dominican republic

It's hard to believe that even as Haiti has been totally devastated by the earthquake, just on the other side of the island, the Dominican Republic is fine. It's sad, really. I mean, you can go to the punta cana resorts and pretend like nothing is wrong, but really, everything is wrong. We can't live in denial over it. It's tragic.

online backup

For some time now, I've been considering investing in online backup. I have a couple of external hard drives that I've been using as my backup, but the thought of something going wrong and losing all of my data is scary. What if there was a fire or a natural disaster that destroyed my home? What if some random digital accident were to happen and I lost everything? Scary.
