Lately it seems like I have many friends who are celebrating major milestones in their lives. It’s a good thing, and I’m certainly not complaining, but it’s pretty amusing how I’m getting so many
wedding invitations and such lately.
There are even a couple of weddings for which I have not yet received an invitation, but which I suspect will have an invitation coming any day now. Just a hunch, you know! Or, in a few cases, the wedding is so far off that I’m not surprised I haven’t received an invitation yet.
It is kinda neat to receive an invitation- there’s something almost magical about getting letters in the mail. Nowadays, lots of invitations are really well designed, especially wedding invitations. Although just about any invitation is pretty high quality.
One other thing I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older- it’s not necessarily offensive to not receive a wedding/birthday/graduation invitation! Of course an invitation brings with it the assumption that you will provide a gift, and gifts cost money, so sometimes it’s almost nice to NOT receive an invitation! Plus sometimes the gifts can be downright expensive. Like sometimes, when you’re dealing with a wedding registry or baby shower registry, some people will only put the expensive things on the registry. My savings account certainly doesn’t like that!
It’s pretty neat to have so many friends, I think. So much has changed in my life in the past couple of years, and it’s a lot of fun to just be a part of the lives of so many friends. Today we celebrate their wedding, and I am sure that it won’t be long before we’re celebrating babies and new houses and all kinds of wonderful things like that. Change is scary sometimes, but it can also be an awful lot of fun.
